This is an outstanding opportunity for a capable and ambitious producer seeking to play a key role in the delivery of Back to Ours, the newest of 21 projects in the Arts Council England’s national Creative People and Places (CPP) programme.

Project Assistant

Hours: Full Time

Salary: £18-£20k. Negotiable / subject to experience.

Fixed Term until 31st December 2019 with potential for renewal

 

The main purpose of this role is to help Back to Ours play an active role in delivering the City’s Cultural Strategy 2016-2026, bringing the arts to life in homes, workplaces, libraries, public spaces, health and education settings. Sharing the lessons learned through in-depth evaluation. You will help to achieve this by:

  • Providing day to day administrative support to the Director, the partners and the rest of the Back to Ours team.
  • Coordinating and facilitating project meetings, events and appointments, booking rooms/refreshments and minuting these meetings, take dictation and provide general assistance in presentations as required.
  • Overseeing all marketing and PR activity in line with procured services, supporting the development of materials and content for use via the key communication methods.
  • Collating and recording participant data for all projects, helping to assess the impact of the Back to Ours programme.
  • Assisting the producers with the recruitment and support of artists, other freelancers, casual staff and volunteers, ensuring they have adequate supervision, support and training.
  • Assisting with the organisation of events, ensuring maximum publicity.
  • Working with the rest of the team to ensure accurate and timely communications, supporting the development of marketing and audience development plans for all individual projects.

The post holder must be flexible with a passion and knowledge about the arts and creative sector. They will have experience in establishing and maintaining effective administrative systems. The post holder also will have the ability to meet tight deadlines with proven organisational and prioritising skills. The main purpose of this role is to establish and maintain a strong creative vision for Hull CPP. You will work closely with the Director to plan and deliver an outstanding arts programme, establishing it as a national exemplar both in the excellence of the arts it delivers and in the numbers and depth of audience engagement and participation it achieves. You will do this by:

 

  • Work with the Director, partners and the rest of the team to create, commission and deliver an ambitious portfolio of projects in line with Back to Ours creative vision and objectives
  • Develop a network of community hubs across the city that will influence and challenge the Back to Ours artistic programme.
  • Work with the team and partners to develop community-led commissioning opportunities in Hull.
  • Work with artists and communities to develop participation opportunities
  • Ensure that all new projects have a strong community involvement
  • Recruit, manage and support artists, other freelancers and casual staff and volunteers to deliver individual projects, ensuring adequate supervision, support and training
  • Provide creative support and guidance to external partner organisations, community groups and artists to ensure high quality artistic delivery across the programme.
  • Provide detailed project information, budgets and related information as needed to support fundraising bid and tenders.

The post holder will have a passion and knowledge about the arts and creative sector. They will also have experience of working alongside communities in the commissioning, planning and management of projects. Established regional and national networks and contacts in the arts and cultural sectors would be an advantage but are not essential. You will work closely with the Director to plan and deliver an outstanding arts programme, establishing it as a national exemplar both in the excellence of the arts it delivers and in the numbers and depth of audience engagement and participation it achieves. You will do this by:

 

  • Support the Director at a strategic level, contributing to Back to Ours artistic and business planning and operational development and to deputise for them in their absence
  • Work collaboratively with the CPP network nationally and internationally, identifying opportunities for joint commissioning, touring, and information exchange.
  • Take the lead in monitoring and supporting progress in project delivery, ensuring that projects take place on time and in budget
  • Recruit, manage and support artists, other freelancers and casual staff and volunteers to deliver individual projects, ensuring adequate supervision, support and training
  • Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy and targets, working with the Director and fundraiser to identify fundraising and income generation opportunities (grant sources, ticketing, merchandise, etc)
  • Identify and build connectivity and progression routes between the Back to Ours programme and the work of partner organisations in order to build long term capacity.

The post holder will have a passion and knowledge about the arts and creative sector. They will also have an understanding of and proven commitment to community engagement in the arts. Experience of supporting the training and development of other people would be an advantage but is not essential. A detailed job description and job specification is available on request. The main purpose of this role is to establish and maintain a strong creative vision for Hull CPP. You will work closely with the Director to plan and deliver an outstanding arts programme, establishing it as a national exemplar both in the excellence of the arts it delivers and in the numbers and depth of audience engagement and participation it achieves. You will do this by:

  • Work with the Director and the rest of the team to deliver an ambitious portfolio of projects and events in line with the Back To Ours creative vision and objectives
  • Liaise with all artists and companies presenting work to assess their technical requirements
  • Recruit, manage and contract technical and production staff needed to deliver the programme
  • Produce venue/site plans, delivery schedules and event management plans
  • Manage the delivery of events and event staff
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts and costings
  • Prepare risk assessments, method statements and event safety management plans as required
  • Coordinate all necessary permissions, insurance documents and risk assessments for events and activities within the programme
  • Identify and build connectivity and progression routes between the Back to Ours programme and the work of partner organisations in order to build long term capacity.
  • The post holder will have experience of delivering indoor and outdoor arts events on time and within budget. They will also have an understanding of and proven experience of working with non-traditional arts venues. Established network of local technical and production staff and suppliers would be an advantage but is not essential. A detailed job description and job specification is available on request. We are now looking to recruit professional & confident individuals into our Childcare Support Teams within our Octagon and Fenchurch Street Nurseries:

 

Childcare Support Team (Supply) – REF:  CST001 (Salary meets National Minimum Wage)

You will be working as part of the team based at Octagon or Fenchurch Street Children’s Centres. Your primary responsibilities will be to deliver high quality childcare and education for children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years. In addition you will be expected to carry out a range of duties including supporting the full nursery team (including students and volunteers), working with the Children’s Centre team and working closely with children and their families. Experience of supporting families within a childcare setting is desirable but consideration will be given to newly qualified persons. A working knowledge of the EYFS is essential and you should be committed to providing high quality play and learning opportunities and working in partnership with parents and carers.

 

Hours will be offered on an adhoc basis to provide additional cover within any of the Children’s Centres as and when required.  There are opportunities to apply for temporary / permanent contracts throughout the year.  These opportunities are usually advertised internally and members of the Childcare Support Team are encouraged to apply.

A Level 2 in Health & Social Care would be an advantage, but is not essential, however you must have previous experience of working in the caring profession and demonstrate the skills associated with the profession such as patience, respect, compassion and understanding dignity. You will be required to develop a working knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults protocols and procedures and have an understanding of confidentiality and data protection in respect of service user records.
