This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative, experienced, capable and ambitious professional to set up and lead the newest of 21 projects in the Arts Council England’s national Creative People and Places (CPP) programme. A ground-breaking action research programme, CPP focuses on places where engagement levels in the arts are significantly below the national average. It aims to get more people choosing, creating and experiencing great art in the places where they live.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Hours: Full Time

Salary: £40-£55k (Negotiable/subject to experience)

Fixed term contract to 31 January 2020, with potential for renewal

 

Your primary responsibilities will be to establish and maintain a strong creative vision for Hull CPP, planning and delivering a vibrant, innovative arts programme which offers great new creative and cultural experiences by, for and with the people of Hull. The post holder will:

  • Build strategic partnerships with a wide range of significant stakeholders across the arts, cultural, charitable, public, private and statutory.
  • Recruit and manage project staff, volunteers and freelancers, ensuring adequate supervision, support and training, enabling them to plan and deliver an outstanding arts programme.
  • Lead the creation of a robust evaluation framework and effective data collection systems.
  • Lead fundraising activities, appointing and managing fundraising staff and/or consultants, contributing to project sustainability beyond January 2020.
  • Ensure that the programme meets all of the delivery and reporting conditions and requirement of the Arts Council and other funders in an accurate and timely manner.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of working at a senior level in relevant arts and cultural organisations and ability to deliver major cultural projects and/or programmes. They will have well-developed business planning skills with experience of managing large project budgets.

Your primary responsibilities will be to facilitate and co-ordinate the effective functioning and governance of the Hull Food Partnership group, developing and developing a city-wide partnership Action Plan developed with active participation of and contributions from these local partnerships and stakeholders. The successful candidate will co-ordinate the writing and delivery of a successful SFC Bronze Award application, identifying and highlighting opportunities and threats throughout the work, manage the development, promotion and adoption by the city of the Hull Food Charter and support the HFP in identifying and securing income and resources to sustain both the Partnership and the Hull Sustainable Food Cities programme over the longer term. The post holder will use a wide range of communication media to effectively brand and publicise the work of the HFP group and will develop a consistent and credible message of food sustainability within a city context.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of working collaboratively with mixed groups and ability to resolve different opinions professionally. Experience of project management and proven experience of communicating complex issues to diverse stakeholders.

Duties include supporting the HR Team with recruitment and selection processes, co-ordination and inputting of data, preparation of information packs, conducting inductions for new starters, minute taking of relevant meetings and all other general office administrative duties.  The role will also include the co-ordination of volunteers, including meeting with potential volunteers and assisting with volunteer applications.  This role would suit an enthusiastic, hardworking individual with strong administrative, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a busy environment.

You should have proven experience within an administration role and excellent IT Skills, proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. You must also be willing to undertake further training, which will be provided, including Safeguarding Adults and Information Governance.  Previous experience and knowledge of HR practices would be an advantage, but not essential.

You will need to hold a minimum relevant Level 3 qualification and ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of supporting families within a childcare setting. A working knowledge of the EYFS is essential and you should be committed to providing high quality play and learning opportunities and working in partnership with parents and carers.

The full time role based within our Twilight Twos Room with children aged 2 – 3 years old, working Monday to Friday.

You will be working as part of the team based at Octagon or Fenchurch Street Children’s Centres. Your primary responsibilities will be to deliver high quality childcare and education for children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years. In addition you will be expected to carry out a range of duties including supporting the full nursery team (including students and volunteers), working with the Children’s Centre team and working closely with children and their families. Experience of supporting families within a childcare setting is desirable but consideration will be given to newly qualified persons. A working knowledge of the EYFS is essential and you should be committed to providing high quality play and learning opportunities and working in partnership with parents and carers.

A Level 2 in Health & Social Care would be an advantage, but is not essential, however you must have previous experience of working in the caring profession and demonstrate the skills associated with the profession such as patience, respect, compassion and understanding dignity. You will be required to develop a working knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults protocols and procedures and have an understanding of confidentiality and data protection in respect of service user records.
